Chris Moriarty

Co-Founder & Director of Audiem

Chris Moriarty is Director and Co-Founder of Audiem, a workplace experience analytics platform that uses machine learning to transform employee feedback into practical, actionable insight.

He describes himself as a workplace commentator rather than a traditional workplace consultant. His strength lies in observing how people, organisations and physical environments interact, and challenging the assumptions that often shape workplace decisions.

Alongside his work at Audiem, Chris hosts the Workplace Geeks podcast, where he explores the people, research and evidence shaping the future of work. Across his work, his focus remains consistent: helping organisations listen more effectively, understand why employees feel the way they do and use that insight to create workplaces that perform better for people and businesses.

"Organisations are almost scared to ask because they don’t want to hear the results.”

Most organisations are not short of workplace data, they are shot of genuine understanding. In this episode of Designed to Work, Michelle Carr is joined by Chris Moriarty, Director and Co-Founder of Audiem, to explore why surveys, benchmarks and dashboards often only tell part of the story. While these tools can show what people think, they rarely explain why, leaving workplace teams to interpret numbers without the context to make confident decisions.

Chris explains why qualitative feedback is essential to understanding the real drivers of employee experience, from something as simple as dissatisfaction with office coffee to more complex workplace issues. The conversation also explores how Audiem uses machine learning to connect fragmented sources of feedback into meaningful insight, and why AI should be seen as a tool rather than the answer itself. Ultimately, the episode challenges organisations to treat the workplace as a product that must continually adapt to people's needs, closing the gap between what leaders assume and what employees actually experience.

"If we just know that you don’t like the coffee, we don’t know why and therefore we don’t know what to fix or adjust.”
