Francesca Brady

Co-Founder & CEO at Aira Labs

Francesca "Frankie" Brady is an air quality scientist and entrepreneur who wants to make the air we breathe easier to understand. She co-founded AirRated to help organisations measure and improve indoor air quality in their buildings. Now, through Aira Labs, she is bringing that knowledge into everyday life with personal air quality monitoring. Her work connects the science of air with practical choices that can help people understand the environments where they live and work.

"We’re obsessed about what we put into our bodies in terms of what we drink, what we eat, but not what we breathe. ”

What if one of the biggest influences on how people feel and perform at work is something they cannot see? In this episode, Michelle speaks with air quality scientist and entrepreneur Frankie Brady about the air we breathe indoors. They explore what monitoring can reveal about meeting rooms, ventilation and materials, why a healthy workplace needs attention long after the fit-out is complete, and how better evidence can lead to practical changes. Drawing on projects including London's Metropolis building, Frankie makes the case for designing workplaces around the people who use them everyday.

"A building can understand temperature, movement and access. It doesn’t understand people.”
